When Keith was just a
small lad, his Grandpa Barnhart came to visit. One meal
with Keith and he was dubbed "Piggy".
From then on Grandpa B wouldn't sit next to Keith during
meals - not in a mean way - but as a kind of
self-preservation. Keith didn't mind. His passions back
then were eating and playing with his two brothers. But
times change.
Simply put, Keith passion now is Music (although eat and
hanging out with the family are important too)!
Keith Barnhart is a professional musician with a keen skill
set on both the classical and electric guitars. Born in
Iowa, he has lived throughout the west but calls Colorado
and Montana home. He's been honing his guitar skills since
the age of 13 but also enjoys playing other instruments. If
it makes noise, Keith enjoys the challenge of learning how
to play it. To date, this includes the mandolin, banjo,
saxophone, keyboard, pan flute, ukulele, Peruvian charango,
drum set, and digery-do among others.
Keith holds a degree in Classical Guitar and Commercial
Music Technology from the University of Denver Lamont
School of Music, where he studied under Maestro Richardo
Iznaola. While attending DU, Keith won several honors
including a Senior Recital of Distinction and the Richardo
Iznaola Outstanding Guitar Student Scholarship.
Keith has been playing professionally for six years. As of
late, he regularly performs throughout the Denver Metro
area as a solo classical/acoustic guitarist at a wide
variety of functions and gatherings. His expanding
repertoire includes many styles of music from early music
to modern works.
Apart from his other job responsibilities, Keith works part
time as a recording engineer, teacher and producer, finding
opportunities to work with musical groups of varied genre
and sizes. Keith just finished performing and producing his
first CD titled "Pieces". Check out some of the sound clips
